SAT Fee Waivers: Eligibility criteria

  • SAT fee waivers are available to low-income 11th- and 12th-grade students in the U.S. or U.S. territories.
  • Students attending school outside the country must also be U.S. citizens to be eligible for fee waivers.
  • You're enrolled in or eligible to participate in the federal National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
  • Your family's annual income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service.
  • You're enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., TRIO programs like Upward Bound).
  • Your family receives public assistance.
  • You're unhoused or reside in federally subsidized public housing or a foster home.
  • You're a ward of the state or an orphan.

Getting a Fee Waiver

  • If you think you're eligible, talk to your school counsellor about getting a fee waiver code or request a fee waiver directly from the College Board.
  • Be mindful of registration deadlines and apply for fee waivers early so you can apply those benefits on time.
  • Be prepared to share the contact information of an adult who can verify your eligibility.
  • Talk to your school counsellor if you have questions about the process.
  • Do you meet the eligibility criteria? If so, you can request a fee waiver directly from the College Board. By making sure you meet the eligibility criteria, it ensures we can continue to offer this benefit efficiently for qualified students. Providing false information about your eligibility for a fee waiver may ban you from taking future College Board assessments (including without limitation the SAT, Advanced Placement (AP) and CLEP Exams).

Homeschooled Students

If you're homeschooled, you can request a fee waiver directly from the College Board. You may also contact a local high school counsellor to receive a fee waiver code, but you must provide proof of your eligibility (i.e., tax records or proof of enrollment in an aid program).

Conclusion

SAT registration fee for the SAT exam is a crucial step for students seeking admission to undergraduate courses abroad. With both onlineregistration options available, applicants have flexibility in choosing the method that suits them best. However, it's essential to keep track of registration deadlines to avoid late fees.

For those who miss the initial registration window, late registration is an option, albeit with additional fees. Additionally, the ability to reschedule exam dates provides further flexibility, albeit at an extra cost. Understanding the SAT registration process and associated fees is vital for applicants to ensure a smooth and successful examination experience.
